Let&#8217;s jump right in where we left off!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you missed part 1, you can read it <a href=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/article\/all-my-neighbors-are-convinced-the-female-knight-from-my-rice-field-is-my-wife-soothing-souls-with-saori-otoha-part-1\/\" title=\"\">right here<\/a>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Sera is based on your daughter&#8230;?!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015Who\u2019s your favorite character?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>I think everyone likes her, but Kaho! She\u2019s a realistic depiction of a modern girl. In the original novel, Kaho doesn\u2019t show up much in the early stages, but with permission from Renkinou-sensei, we have been able to use her a lot. A friendly, realistic character like her is really easy to put to good use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full c-blog-article__image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1166\" height=\"762\" src=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-7-e1780900663816.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-661\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-7-e1780900663816.png 1166w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-7-e1780900663816-300x196.png 300w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-7-e1780900663816-1024x669.png 1024w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-7-e1780900663816-768x502.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1166px) 100vw, 1166px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015How about the main character, Jin?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>Jin is a grown man, so there are some parts that are difficult to express. He always takes a grown-up approach to things, but drawing that too plainly makes him seem a little cold. As there are also romantic comedy elements, I tried really hard not to make him seem like an unfeeling guy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015And opposite of Jin, Sera is so innocent, like a child.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>I drew Sera while thinking about what makes girls cute. I had only drawn guys playing sports and tried to get across how cool they were before, so it was a nice change of pace to draw a character practically overflowing with cute, girly elements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full c-blog-article__image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"1384\" src=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-8-e1780900709991.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-8-e1780900709991.png 1170w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-8-e1780900709991-254x300.png 254w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-8-e1780900709991-866x1024.png 866w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-8-e1780900709991-768x908.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015After Sera is transported to the modern world, she gets to try a lot of new things. Her awestruck expressions during those moments are wonderful \u2013 how do you capture those cute expressions?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>The expression Sera makes when she discovers something new is based on the expressions of my almost 5-year-old daughter. Until recently, my daughter was in her \u201cwhy\u201d phase, and would ask \u201cwhat is that\u201d about everything. I realized that Sera ended up looking like her [laughs]. My daughter\u2019s \u201cwhy\u201d phase is over now, but I still pay close attention to what kind of expressions my kids make when they try something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full c-blog-article__image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1170\" height=\"1800\" src=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-663\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201.png 1170w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201-195x300.png 195w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201-666x1024.png 666w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201-768x1182.png 768w, https:\/\/kmanga.kodansha.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/female-knight-9-e1780900771201-998x1536.png 998w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1170px) 100vw, 1170px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Being a working parent is tough!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015It must be pretty tough taking care of your family while drawing a serialization.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>It really is. Kids are especially prone to getting sick. When I am taking care of my kids, I can\u2019t really get much work done, and I\u2019ve definitely called my editor more than once or twice to let them know I won\u2019t be able to make the deadline.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Editor N:<br><\/strong>Even in the middle of all that, you still deliver very high-quality work, which is a huge help!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>Recently, my daughter has started to understand my job. I\u2019ve even drawn her pictures of Sera as a present. Until very recently, she thought my job was just \u201cdrawing pictures for fun\u201d [laughs]. Kids grow up so fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-large-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Look forward to more cute and sexy moments from Sera!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015During your serialization, what was something that made it feel real to you?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>I think there are a lot of people who love these characters, even more than I imagined. I believe this goes for all manga artists, but the thought of having your series cancelled at the start is quite scary. You have a lot of love for your own characters, so of course you want to be able to draw them for as long as possible. The characters in \u201cFemale Knight\u201d are held dear by my editor, my assistant, and the readers, which makes me very happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015What scene or point would you like people to pay attention to?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>Everyone already enjoys Sera\u2019s ever-changing expressions, so I want to expand my repertoire in that regard. Her cuteness is in development, so I would like it if everyone could pay attention as she grows even cuter. I always want to draw a Sera who\u2019s a little more grown-up and sexy!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015Are there any manga you\u2019re following at the moment?<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/s.kmanga.kodansha.com\/ldg?t=10023\" title=\"\">The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity<\/a><\/em> by Saka Mikami. The characters are so sweet and adorable. Also, the way Mikami-sensei carefully plans her panels out is really incredible for a weekly serialization. I read with a lot of respect for her craft.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-lutwiyo-line-heading wp-block-heading c-blog-article__heading\">\u2015\u2015And finally, a message for the readers!<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Otoha:<br><\/strong>Thank you so much for reading!
